It’s been a long time since I’ve posted anything, a lot has been going on in our little home. Soon my husband will be updating my own website to post articles to talk about what’s going on and what projects I’m working on. For now, I thought I’d share about something new I’m doing.
I’m so excited to be teaching cake decorating classes this Fall for older elementary through high school age students for Homeschooled Students through BHEA! It always blows me away when young people want to learn a new skill or improve on previous knowledge. A skill set like cake decorating can provide so much more than learning how to make a cake beautiful, but it also affords development in patience, persistence and perseverance along with eye-hand coordination and refinement of personal artistic expression just to name a few! I will be sharing some of the skills that I’ve acquired from operating our family’s personal fundraising efforts through Something Chic. I’ve been baking for others since 2011 out of my home kitchen providing cakery for birthday parties, baby & bridal showers, and special events including retirement parties, marriage conferences & engagement parties to name a few. Last year I even branched out into Weddings! I am so blessed to have my cake included in so many special days! If you’d like to see examples of my work, feel free to take a look at my website, www.SomethingChic.com where there is also a link to my cake related social media.
Now, as far as my class goes, I’ll be using Wilton products. Wilton is a well-known brand name and words such as reliability, durable, and affordable are synonymous with the brand. I’ll specifically be using Wilton’s 20 Piece Beginning Buttercream Decorating Set. I’ll be showing the students how to use a piping bag and how to use the tips with their various decor applications. We will be working towards a fun Christmas project at the end of the semester which will show off how much they’ve learned! Fingers crossed! I’m really looking forward to this!
